Victor R. Tononi

TONONI – Victor R., 67, Johnstown, passed away Jan. 17, 2015, at home. Born April 12, 1947, in Colver, son of Victor Anthony and Mary (Legdon) Tononi. Preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Gertrude Tononi; and nephew Tracy Gene Bandy. Survived by loving wife of 48 years, the former Peggy Knipple; children, Lisa Tononi, Johnstown; Paul, married to former Kerri Krupka, Salix; and Michele Tononi, Berlin; grandchildren, Casey Choka, Cody Cooper and Tyler, Kyle and Isaac Tononi; sisters, Dianna, wife of Tom Wyatt, Texas, and Pamela, wife of Bill Bandy, Kentucky; and brother, Anthony, married to Shawna Tononi, Maryland. Victor was a 1965 graduate of Ferndale Dale High School. He enjoyed camping, fishing, was an avid gardener and also enjoyed woodworking. Served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam as a staff sergeant. He was a jet engine mechanic crew chief of a B-52 bomber with the 7th Bomb Wing in Thailand. Life member of VFW Post 155. He was employed by Tableland Services Inc., Somerset, where he was awarded one of five Golden Eagle Awards in 2007. He was very patriotic and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Geisel Funeral Home, Johnstown, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Father Robert Rusten, officiating, with military honors by VFW Post 155.
