Shirley Miller Obituary

On Monday June 13, 2022, Shirley Mae (Rhoades) Miller, previously Shirley Mae Cooper passed away, peacefully in her sleep, at the age of 95.

Shirley was born on August 26, 1926, in Johnstown, PA to Ralph & Mary (Hecker) Rhoades.
A lifelong resident of Johnstown, she was a LPN in the Operating Room at Lee Hospital, volunteered in the Lee Hospital Auxiliary and at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital gift shop. She provided care as a home health aide to countless families over the years, where she was greatly appreciated for the loving, trusting care she provided.

Shirley loved to travel, play golf, winter in Florida, collecting bells, anything strawberry, all things Hallmark, going to the casino and playing the lottery, with dreams of winning big so she could shower her family with gifts and great adventures.
Shirley was kindhearted; always quick to lend a helping hand, giving you the shirt off her back. She had a great sense of humor. She was not shy, loving to meet new people. Shirley was not familiar with the term stranger as she made friends wherever she went. She had a great memory, making people feel special as she would remember the little things being sure to ask about them when you spoke with her.
I am sure she already has many new friends in heaven and getting a few laughs.

She is survived by her loving children - son Terry Cooper, Johnstown; daughter Jennifer Cooper [James] Churchey, Illinois; stepdaughter Mary Miller Solt, Johnstown.
Grandchildren Sheena, Michelle, Brian, Karen, Michael, Melissa & David.
And many great-grandchildren.

Per Shirley’s wishes there will be no services but rather a celebration of life with family later this summer.
