Ruth M. Evans

EVANS – Ruth M., 87, Johnstown, passed away peacefully June 7, 2015, at St. Jude’s Haven, Johnstown. Born July 10, 1927, in Jerome, daughter of Thomas and Bertha (Misner) Buckingham. Preceded in death by parents; husband, William J. “Jack” Evans; infant daughter, Nancy Jean; brothers, Edward, Alfred, William and Charles; and sisters, Elizabeth Leberknight, Emma Nixon and Thursa Dunmyer. Survived by loving children, Audrey, married to Robert Haberkorn, Beaverdale; Ronald Evans, married to the former Linda Stermec, Florida; Dorothy, married to Robert Clawson, Johnstown; and Thomas Evans, married to the former Carol McAfee, Johnstown; 12 beloved grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; also several much-loved nieces and nephews. Member of Grace Assembly Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Volunteer member of Elder Berries singing group. Ruth was an unpublished poet and songwriter and enjoyed having music in her life. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Geisel Funeral Home, Johnstown, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Douglas W. Price Sr., officiating.
