ROGERS – Roger L., 89, Mercersburg, formerly of Johnstown, died June 20, 2014, two days shy of his 90th birthday, in Chambersburg. Born June 22, 1924, in Johnstown, son of Lewis and Alverda (Lambing) Rogers. Preceded in death by parents; wife of 54 years, Mary; brother, Lewis Rogers Jr.; and sister, Anna Jean Kuckenbrod. Survived by loving son, Matt, married to the former Dawn Marie Dabbs, Mercersburg; and sister, Francis “Pat” Baumbaugh, Richland. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a retired biology teacher with 31 years of service, having worked with Fort Wayne, Ind., school system. Member of Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren, Johnstown. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Geisel Funeral Home, Johnstown, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Pastor Terry Gindlesperger, officiating. Private interment at Richland Cemetery.
