Smith, Robert F. 88, of Johnstown, passed away April 14, 2019 at Windber Woods Nursing Care. Born November 3, 1930 in Johnstown son of Anna Marie Goller. Preceded in death by mother, wife Lois Ann (Wertz), son David Wayne Smith and brother-in -law John Hawthorne. Survived by sons Richard Smith, Daniel Smith, Jerry Smith (Mary Beth), Doug Smith (Michele), Jeff Smith (Denise Borland) and David James Smith. Grandchildren, Christopher, Jason (Randi), Amanda Krestar (Cody), Devin and Courtney Smith. Great grandchildren, Gracie, Baylee, Audrey, Ryleigh. Sister-in-law Marilyn Hawthorne. Niece Nancy Morley, nephew J.D. Hawthorne, and dog Sammy. Robert was a 1950 graduate of Johnstown High School. Served in the United State Marines during the Korean War. He retired from Bethlehem Steel with 33 years and retired from Kmart. Robert enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, and casinos. He was a member of Oakland Volunteer Fire Co. and Junior Ouam Order of Mechanics. Friends will be received 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Wednesday at Geisel Funeral Home Johnstown where funeral service will be held 11:00 am Thursday Rev. James Gay officiating. Interment Richland Cemetery with military honors by Conemaugh Valley Marine Detachment. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Windber Hospice or the VA.
