Phillip G. Zabala

ZABALA – Phillip George, 74, Johnstown, passed away Jan. 8, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Oct. 5, 1941, son of Jesse and Myrtle (Fiscus) Zabala. Preceded in death by parents; sisters, Hildegard Maurer and Loretta Zabala; and brothers, Donald Fiscus, David and James Zabala. Survived by children, Phillip, married to former Leslie A. McIvor, Colorado, and Wayne Zabala, Johnstown; sisters, Mary Cruse, Johnstown; Martha Canini, Johnstown; and Phyllis, wife of Edward Cassick, Johnstown. Also survived by five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; special great-niece, Shannon Hoffman; and devoted partner, Diane Snyder who took care of and loved him. Phillip enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, watching football and meeting his friends at McDonald’s. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Amper, Dr. Voloshin, Dr. Gurevich, Dr. Pidutti, the staff at Conemaugh Hospital 8th floor and Conemaugh Hospice for the special care of our brother. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Geisel Funeral Home, Johnstown, where funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, Father Chuck Bridges, officiating. Interment, Benshoff Hill Cemetery
