Miriam V. Berkebile

BERKEBILE - Miriam V., 90, Johnstown, passed away April 22, 2016, at the Lutheran Home, Johnstown. Born Nov. 25, 1925, in Ralphton, Pa., daughter of George and Elizabeth (Neilson) Schalles. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Jerry Sheldon Berkebile; infant sister, Marion; sister, Jean Jones; brothers, George Schalles and Robert Schalles; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Jones. Survived by loving sons, Jerry, married to Patricia, Midland, Texas; Gregory, married to Beth Ann, Belle Vernon, Pa.; and Tom, married to Jean, Johnstown; grandchildren, Matthew, and wife Lauren; Kimberly, and husband, William; Jennifer, and husband, Bradley; Sergey; Katya; Adam; and Sarah; great-granddaughter, Lilly; and sister, Daryle, married to Robert Brown. She was a member of Beulah United Methodist Church, where she served as church secretary for 23 years. She was also Head of the Primary Department. Miriam was a graduate of Dale High School and Cambria-Rowe Business College. She was a lifelong sports fan with her favorite teams being the Ferndale Yellow Jackets, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Penn State Football Team. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Geisel Funeral Home, Johnstown, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev David Stains, officiating.
