Mildred S. Rager

RAGER – Mildred S., 85, Johnstown, was promoted to glory Feb. 11, 2016, at the Lutheran Home of Johnstown. Born Jan. 17, 1931, in Johnstown, and born again August 1957. John 11:26 “Who so ever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die.” Daughter of Oscar and Katherine (Gavin) Stiffler. Preceded in death by parents, six brothers and six sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Clarence Rager; loving children, Beverly, married to Alan Leidy, Ligonier; Cynthia, married to Robert Lester, Johnstown; Scott, married to the former Lori Delawder, Manassas, Va.; Brenda, married to Randy Wahlstrom, Milwaukee, Wis.; Fonda, married to Frank Totten, St. Louis, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; also sister-in-law, Eileen Stiffler. Mildred passed way after a lengthy battle from Alzheimer’s complications. Romans 8:18 “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Hymn writer, Fanny Crosby said it well, “Just One Glimpse of Him in Glory will all the toils of life repay.” Mildred knew that Jesus loved and saved her and she loved Jesus. Her priorities were to be a good wife, a good mother and to obey God’s word. All these she faithfully fulfilled. Mildred was church pianist, organist and Sunday school teacher much of her adult life. Her heart’s desire was and still is to see her children walking with the Lord. Mildred was a great cook and greater hostess. She loved to have family gatherings. Mildred will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Geisel Funeral Home, Johnstown, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, the Rev. Tim Dietrich, officiating.
