Panar, Michael A., 85, passed away October 15 peacefully in Johnstown. Born May 1, 1939, in Barnesboro, son of Michael and Faye (Neckley) Panar. Preceded in death by parents and sisters Rose and Gloria, and beloved wife, Agnes (Milko). Survived by sons Angelo and Edward, partner Melissa. Loving grandfather of Quincy and Alexander and sister of Karen, Altoona. He was founder and director of Family Social Services for over thirty years where he was a devoted counselor to individuals, families, couples, children and adolescents and he taught sociology and family studies in colleges and universities. He graduated from Kent State University with a M.A. in sociology and went on to receive a Doctor of Divinity in holistic healing and a certification in cognitive therapy. He authored two books that explore the human condition and leading a healthy and holistic life. He was a gentle man who loved reading, writing, classical music, his morning coffee and donut, westerns and comedies, and being with his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be October 22 at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict's Church, Fr. David S. Peles officiating. Private interment St. Joseph Cemetery. The family also understands if you are unable to attend and asks that you have a peaceful thought of Michael on that day. Arrangements by Geisel Funeral Home - Johnstown.
