Mary Louise Lowes

LOWES – Mary Louise 90, Johnstown, died Dec. 11, 2015, at Arbutus Park Manor. Born April 28, 1925, in Johnstown, daughter of Joseph and Bessie (Seibert) Sweeney. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nelson E. Lowes; and sons, John and Richard Lowes. Survived by children, Nelson E. Lowes Sr., married to the former Mary Urbanik, Johnstown; Timothy Lowes, married to the former Joyce Swartzwelder, Johnstown; and Dennis Lowes, married to the former Ruth Thomas, Hanover; and daughter-in-law, former Arlene Cramer. Also survived by 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jack, Robert and James Sweeney. Mary was a life member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of St. John Gualbert Cathedral. She enjoyed vacationing at the beach and was a loving mother grandmother and great-grandmother who will be sadly missed. Friends received from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Geisel Funeral Home, Johnstown. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Gualbert Cathedral, the Very Rev. James F. Crookston officiating. Interment, St. John Cemetery.
