Kenneth McIntosh Obituary

McIntosh, Kenneth, age 86, of Johnstown died April 22, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital. Born December 15, 1934 in Mahaffey, PA son of the late Charles H. and Dorothy A. (Miller) McIntosh. Preceded in death by wife Dorothy his high school sweetheart from Portage H.S. Class of '53, who died October 11, 2019, ending a marriage of 65-years, parents and brothers Donald (Barbara), Ronald (Carol), James (Vonnie) and sister Carole (late Paul) Sloan. Surviving is son Kenneth G. (Debra), and daughter Susan M. Nugent; grandchildren; Carrie Anne Roberts (William), Meghan E. McIntosh, Kristin M. and Joshua P. Nugent, great granddaughters Nichole E. McIntosh (Chris), Abigale R. McKnight and Makenzie A. Roberts; great, great grandchildren Liam D. and Kennedi (Kenni) R. McIntosh and Greyson J. McKnight all of Johnstown. Also, sisters: Betty (late Richard) Helsel, Diana (Joseph Ivock), Deborah (late Richard) Griffiths and brothers Robert (late Carol) and Patrick (Melody) McIntosh. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Irene (late Thomas) Oravecz and Velma (Michael) Bryja along with numerous nieces and nephews. Ken had been a member of Beulah United Methodist Church since 1960 where he had served in various capacities including God's Kitchen. He had served proudly in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class during the Korean-era. He retired from the composing room of the Tribune-Democrat in August 1997, with 40-years' service, where he worked with a "bunch of good guys." Ken was a lifetime member of the CWA, Local 14815. He was also a member of the Korean Services Veterans Association of Pennsylvania, Post 1, Senior Activities Center and Retired Men's Club Choir. Ken was a Scotch-Irishman who loved to polka, but his favorite pastime was playing pinochle with various clubs in town. He will be laid to rest with 2-packs of a straight deck of hearts from his children and grandchildren. The family would also like to give thanks to the staff at Select Specialty, who cared for Ken during his stay. Friends will be received 3pm to 6pm Sunday at Geisel Funeral Home - Johnstown where funeral service will be held 1pm Monday Rev. Chuck Shaffer officiating. Entombment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
