Judith Ann Rice

Rice, Judith Ann, 79, died January 19, 2022 at Somerset Hospital. Preceded in death by husband William O. Rice in 1997, parents, Robert Emerick and Mary E. Kershbaumer and best friend Ruthie Pitera. Judith is survived by, son Johnathan Rice and wife Laura of Union, WV, daughter, best friend, and devoted caretaker, Mary Rice of Somerset, and grandchildren, Margaret Rice and William Rice, sister, Helen Boyle, sister-in-law, Marceen Hawksworth, stepfather, Louis A. Kershbaumer, and numerous nieces and nephews. Judith was a 1960 graduate of Johnstown High School and a 1961 graduate of Johnstown Vocational School of Practical Nursing. Judith loved her family, cherished time with her friends, and enjoyed a good game of pinochle. She developed street smarts at a young age and had diverse talents which led her to many interesting and varying jobs, including LPN, licensed life insurance agent, bartender and bar owner, Family Service Supervisor at Forest Lawn Cemetery, and she worked at the Women's Help Center from which she retired in 2013. Friends will be received Tuesday, January 25, 2022, from 11 am until time of funeral services at 1 pm at Geisel Funeral Home -Johnstown. Committal services following in the Chapel at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to: Altoona Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services, 1130 12th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16601.
