John Howard Morgart

MORGART – John Howard “Yunk,” 89, Dale, died Oct. 17, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 27, 1925, Jamestown, son of Harry and Sarah (Helsel) Morgart. Preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters. Survived by loving wife of 69 years, former Clara Parks; children, Harry John (Deborah) Morgart, Johnstown; Deborah (Tobie) Keirn, Johnstown; and Robert (Kelley) Morgart, Maryland. Also survived by eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Also sisters, Elizabeth Gilpartick and Mae Pale. John served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a staff sergeant and worked as a coal miner for Island Creek Mine. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Geisel Funeral Home, Johnstown. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Father Walter Moll, officiating. Interment, St. John’s Cemetery, with military honors by Conemaugh Valley Detachment 287 Marine Corps League.
