COLLINS – James Arthur, 88, Johnstown, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Born Oct. 10, 1925, in Connellsville, Pa., son of James and Margaret (Wagner) Collins. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Linda Knipple; and brother-in-law, William Reed. Survived by loving wife of 47 years, Martha (Petrun) Collins; children, Marsha, wife of Dennis Reed; Denise, wife of Gary Rager; and Kevin, married to Michelle; sister, Ella Reed; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; also one great-great-grandchild. James served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a radio operator aboard the USS Panamint. He was employed by Bethlehem Steel, Penn Furniture and Dale Oxygen. Member of South Fork First United Methodist Church. He was an avid Pirates and Steelers fan. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Geisel Funeral Home, Johnstown, where funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Terry Trudgen , officiating. Interment, Forest Lawn Cemetery, with military honors by Conemaugh Valley Detachment 287 Marine Corps League. In lieu of flowers, donations may by made to Windber Hospice.
