BLOCK – Harold L., 89, Richland, passed away Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at Crossroads Arbutus Park Manor. Born Feb. 21, 1926, in Johnstown, son of Clarence and Hazel (Cook) Block. Preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Evelyn (Makin) Block; son, Donald Block; infant, daughter Sandra Block; brothers, Charles Block, Clarence Block and James Block; sisters, Charlotte Roberts and Dorothy Stombaugh; and stepgrandson, Philip Makin. Survived by loving wife of 29 years, former Audrey Forster, and these stepchildren, Larry W. Makin, husband of former Kathy Cannonie, North Carolina; Marguerite (Goughnour) Brown, Johnstown; Lee Ann (Goughnour), wife of John Young, Summerhill; Marion Sue (Goughnour), wife of Charles Orsargos, Windber; and Brenda (Goughnour), wife of Raymond Packer, Harrisburg. Also survived by 14 stepgrandchildren, eight stepgreat-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Harold enjoyed music and dancing. Served in the 86th Infantry Division during World War II, and retired from Richland Township with 38 years of service. He was very generous and loving, and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Harold was a member of Arbutus Church of the Brethren, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, the Rev. Ron Barto, officiating, with military honors by Conemaugh Valley Detachment 287 Marine Corps League. Interment, Richland Cemetery at a later date.
