George Polster

Polster, George - 95 of Oakland, passed away January 14, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. Born July 24, 1921 in Cohocton, New York. Son of George E. and Fannie (Strobel) Polster. Preceded in death by his parents, wife of 64 years Evelyne, brother James and sister Dorothea. Survived by loving children Barry G. Polster married to the former Joan Dailey of Johnstown, Diane married to Joseph Spessard of Greensburg, Roger Polster married to the former Mary Kay Lovrien of Post Falls, Idaho, and Gerry married to Jeffrey Hoffman of Johnstown. Grandchildren Christopher Polster- Kelly, Chad and Joshua Spessard, Lindsay and Luke Hoffman. Great grandchild Cambria Cherry. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. George was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church, serving on the property committee, as an usher, and the Lutheran Men's League. Retired machinist with nearly 40 years service Bethlehem Steel Corp. A graduate of Johnstown High School, WWII Army Veteran, and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He Coached for the Geistown Lion's Little League for 30 years. Member of the Sportsman's bowling league. George was also a tax preparer for the Senior Activity Center. Friends will be received 4 to 8 pm Tuesday at Geisel Funeral Home, Johnstown. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, Rev. Michael Van Dyke Officiating.
