Ernest E. Lonas

LONAS – Ernest E., 89, Johnstown, passed away April 21, 2015, at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital. Born July 14, 1925, in Johnstown, son of John and Hazel (Kearney) Lonas. Preceded in death by parents; infant brother; brothers, Ed, Ray and John Lonas; and sister, Geraldine Frabell. Survived by loving wife of 65 years, the former Theresa Bumbarger, Johnstown; loving children, Robert, married to the former Judy Hotham, Davidsville; Deborah, married to Steve Horvath, Sidman; Judith, married to William Predko, North Fort Myers, Fla.; and Lisa Chapman, and very dear friend, Shawn Miller, Windber; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-stepgrandchild. Ernest was a member of Salix United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II and Korea. He was employed by Bethlehem Steel and First Summit Bank. Lifetime member of VFW Post 155 and American Legion, Richland. Ernest had a green thumb and farmed for many years. Friends and family will be received one hour prior to funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at Salix United Methodist Church, the Rev. Don Poole, officiating. Private interment.
