Obituary

Yowaish, Dorothy (Dottie) E Simmons, 95, Fuquay-Varina, NC, formerly of Johnstown, PA., passed away on June 4, 2022, of natural causes, at the Windsor Point Nursing Facility.  Born in Johnstown, PA, daughter of Owen Heeney and Bertha Goss. Preceded in death by parents and husband Elmer Simmons, Jr, sisters Jean Fox and Jacqueline.  Survived by children Rebecca Stoner (Larry) in Broomfield, CO, LTC (USA, Ret) Randall O. Simmons (Susan) of Clark, PA, Wendell Simmons (Carole) of Lakeworth, FL, Pamela Mowrey (Philip) of Fuquay Varina, NC, Pastor Brian Simmons (Pastor Jeaux) of Colonial Heights, VA., 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Subsequent to the passing of Elmer Simmons, she married John Yowaish in 2004, who predeceased her. Survived by John’s family: Diane Frazine (Jeff) of Shelby, MI., Janet Wieber (Dale) of Portage, MI., Mary Lou Keiting of Allendale, MI., Sharon Stone (Paul Taylor) of Grand Rapids, MI., and James Yowaish of Lowell, MI., 10 grandkids and 6 great grandkids.  Dottie received her LPN Associates equivalent from Mt Aloysius. She worked at Raymond Hospital of Johnstown, PA., and The Presbyterian Home of Johnstown, PA.  She was an active member of Beulah UM Church while living in Johnstown. Later she enjoyed living in Lake Placid, FL. For many years.  She enjoyed dancing, knitting, travel, cruises, and time with family.
Funeral services are provided by Lancaster Funeral Home of Louisburg, NC. The family will participate in an interment service at Forest Lawn Cemetery, her final resting place.  Memorial donations may be made to the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) association.
