David L. Thomas, Sr

Thomas, David L. 72, Johnstown; passed away October 15, 2019. Born August 15, 1947 in Johnstown. Son of Louis and Pearl (Crigger) Thomas. Preceded in death by parents, wife Deborah Jean, brothers Ken and Ted G. Thomas, and sister Vera Hilbig. Survived by loving children; David Thomas Jr. married to Douan, Deanna married to Jeff Ford, and Daisy married to Bill Culbert; grandchildren Brandon (Jessica), Corey and Danielle Culbert, Zeke Thomas, and Sarah Ford; brothers Rick and Robert Thomas; and sisters Mary Lou Burkhart and Joyce Legget. David served in the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class (E7) for 22 years, from 1965-68 and 1972-88. He was a Vietnam War veteran. He was employed at Wheeler Bros. in Somerset County. David was a member of the Menoher VFW Post 155 Lambert Avenue. Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at the Geisel Funeral Home - Johnstown. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Ralph Cain officiating. VFW Post 155 in charge of military service. Interment Cemetery of the Alleghenies National Veteran's Cemetery at a later date.
