David G. Poehner, Jr

Poehner Jr, David G. - 71 of Brownstown passed peacefully August 16, 2024 at Windber Hospice. Born January 11, 1953 in Johnstown. Son of David and Dolores (Reed) Poehner. Preceded in death by parents, and mother-in-law Rosemary McVicker. Survived by loving and devoted wife of 50 years, the former Elaine McVicker, and cherished daughters Christi Polenik and Alyson, wife of Ryan Bambling. Adored grandchildren, twins Caci and Molli Polenik and Gracy, Oliver and Benjamin Bambling. Survived by siblings, Debbie Naugle (Richard), Diana Miske (Michael) and Denny Poehner. Also, father-in-law Earl McVicker whom he had great love for, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Dave was a 1972 graduate of North Star High School. He retired from Homer City Power Plant in 2016 after 40+ years. Dave was a very hard worker all of his life. He was always busy doing projects with his brother and son-in-law. He loved knowledge and viewed any challenge as an opportunity to learn. Dave loved the 4th of July and was known for his spectacular firework displays. His pride and joy in life was his family. He was a loving husband, father and proud grandfather who will be tremendously missed by all. Friends will be received Saturday 10 am until time of service at 12pm at 2nd Presbyterian Church 565 Park Ave, Johnstown PA 15902. Rev. Art Moffat officiating. Private interment Grandview Cemetery. With a grateful heart and much admiration, the family would like to thank Dr. Rafic Farah for his compassionate care and tireless efforts to find a treatment for Dave.
