BLACKNER – Charles David, 78, Johnstown, passed away Jan. 30, 2014, at home. Born July 24, 1935, in Johnstown, son of Frank and Florence (Hanscom) Blackner. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Doris, who passed away Feb. 3, 2010; stepmother, Anna Mae Ellenberger Blackner; brother, James Blackner; and sister, Blanche Lozros. Survived by daughter, Darla, married to Joseph Clites, Johnstown; sons, David Blackner and Lawrence Blackner, both of Johnstown; grandchildren, Matthew and Rebecca Clites; and Jessica, Jennifer and Lawrence Jr. Blackner; great-granddaughter, Cassie Michaels; brothers, Robert Blackner, married to Shirley, Texas; Frank Blackner Jr., Virginia; Paul Blackner, married to Nancy, Johnstown; Gerry Blackner, Johnstown; Derry “Blackie” Blackner, Johnstown; and Gene Blackner, married to Sally, New Paris; sister, Dorothy Conzo, California; and numerous nieces and nephews. Chuck retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp., Rod & Wire Mill. Former owner of Partner’s Bar and was an avid golfer. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Geisel Funeral Home, Johnstown, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Pastor Douglas Price, officiating. Interment, Benshoff Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society in Charles’ name.
