Beverly Benson Obituary

Benson, Beverly Ann 71, of Johnstown, passed away November 8, 2020 at Memorial Medical Center after a prolonged battle with breast cancer and its cohorts and a short battle with Covid-19. Born May 8, 1949 in Berlin PA. Daughter of Robert and Frances (Dickey) Hull. Preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, numerous aunts and uncles, and mother-in- law Grace Benson. Survived by loving husband of 47 years Charles "Chuck" Benson, and these brothers and sisters, Rick Hull, Johnstown, Nancy (Clifford) Miller, Johnstown, Linda (John) Devich, Greensburg, Deb (Mark) Bodnar, Maryland, Bob (Sharon) Hull, Florida, Sandy (Eric) Owens, Florida, William Hull, Florida. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Lastly Bev is survived by her dog Bella who she greatly loved. A special thank you to the Oncology department at Memorial Medical Center, especially Dr. Ibrahim Sbeitan, nurse Missy Myers, Dr. Patti Stefanik, and Dr. Phillip Gvozden for the care that they provided for Bev. Also thank you to the staff at Rose 6 ICU who made her last days comfortable. She was a 1968 graduate of Johnstown High School. Bev worked at several jobs but was best known as a dedicated babysitter who helped raise many children from diapers to high school graduation. A longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Johnstown, where she was on ordained Deacon and Sunday school teacher. She loved the Lord and her Church. Bev was a loving caring and beautiful person who made and kept friends quickly and easily. She enjoyed watching the Pirates, Penguins, Steelers and reruns with the Golden Girls and any movie with Errol Flynn and Olivia Dehavilland. She also enjoyed Barry Manilow music. Due to the current Covid-19 Virus a memorial service will be held at a later and safer date. In memory of Bev donations can be made to the Cambria County Humane Society 743 Galleria Drive Ext Johnstown PA 15904. Bev will be greatly missed but her spirit will live on forever. The family is being by Geisel Funeral Home- Johnstown.
