GEISEL – Barbara, 98, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Arbutus Park Manor. Survived by daughters, Charlene Walters, Middletown, Pa.; Nancy Cuppett, Arlington, Texas; Sarah May, Somerset; and Barbara Kriston, Meyerstown, Pa.; son, Vernon, Washington, D.C.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchilren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Mrs. Geisel was the widow of Fred G. Geisel, who founded Geisel Funeral Home in Dale Borough in 1936. The youngest and last surviving child of George Wellington and Rillie (Harbaugh) Davis, Mrs. Geisel was born Sept. 10, 1915, in Pleasantville, Bedford County. She was the sister of Helen Wright, Agnes Sherwood, Ruthann Fetner, Gerald Davis and Percy Davis. A 1931 graduate of Richland High School, she married Mr. Geisel on Oct. 1, 1934, in Fairmont, W.Va. The couple joined Beulah Evangelical (now Beulah United Methodist) Church in 1943. In her 50 years as an active congregant, Mrs. Geisel taught Sunday school, junior church and Bible school classes at Beulah church. There will be no visitation or viewing, and the family requests that no flowers be sent. Mrs. Geisel will be laid to rest beside her husband in Richland Cemetery after a private memorial service.
