Arlene L. Guennel

GUENNEL– Arlene L., 85, Johnstown, passed away Aug. 20, 2014, at Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital. Born Sept. 17, 1928, in Scranton, Pa., daughter of Gustav and Edith (Scherer) Guennel. Preceded in death by her parents; nephews, David Morrell and Tommy Scherer; and three sisters. Survived by loving sister, Elsie Scherer, Johnstown; loving nieces and nephews, John Morrell, Diane Lavery, Mary Catherine Bennett, William Richards, Robert Richards, Deborah Neisner, Michael Scherer, Peggy Bimeal, Arlene Grabusnick, William Scherer, Donna Shirt and Dawn Pringle; and numerous great- and great-great-nephews and -nieces. Arlene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Retired bookkeeper with 33 years’ service from Sani-Dairy. A huge Pirates and Penguins fan. Arlene loved cats. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Geisel Funeral Home, Johnstown, where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, the Rev. Michael Van Dyke officiating. Interment, Oak Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Zion Lutheran Church, Johnstown.
