Anthony Joseph Alessandro

Alessandro, Anthony Joseph "Tony", 99 of Westmont passed May 23, 2021. Born April 5, 1922 in Johnstown son of Giuseppe and Giovanna (Gigliotti) Alessandro. Preceded in death by parents, wife of 58 years Yolanda (Sartiano) Alessandro who died in 2004. Daughters, Victoria Ann Toth, 1980, Jean T. Roth, 2004 and Carmella Conway, 2020. Sisters, Serafina Alessandro, Rita Polca, and brother John Alessandro. Survived by loving daughter Josie wife of Brad McVicker. Grandchildren Stacie J. Griffiths significant other Damian Chiodo and Matthew R. (Deanna) McVicker. Great- grandchildren Victoria J. and Christopher L. Griffiths and Maddox D. McVicker. Sisters Mary (William) Ramirez and Viola Najjar. Sons- in-law, Richard Roth and Gregory Conway. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews on both the Alessandro and Sartiano side. Tony was a 1941 graduate of Johnstown High School and he served his country as a Sergeant in the European Theater with the 65th Division during World War II. He worked as a bricklayer for 43 years with Bethlehem Steel Corp. He was a member of Local 9-PA Bricklayers and for years he served as treasurer for Lower Cambria Local 2644. He was a member of VFW Post 155, Knights of Columbus 4604, Sir Knight 4th Degree. Member of All Saints Assembly 0954 and a member of their Color Guard. Past President of Joseph Johns Lodge 214 Italian Sons and Daughters of America. A member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister, usher, member of the funeral choir, and attended Mass daily. He faithfully attended First Friday services with the Nocturnal Adoration group. Friends will be received 3-6pm Friday at Geisel Funeral Home - Johnstown. Mass of Christian Burial 10am Saturday at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church. Fr. Mark Begley celebrant. Interment St. Anthony Cemetery.
